Centre for Empowerment & Enrichment, Empowering the Marginalized. Enriching Lives with Dignity

Uniquely Me

India's First Children's Day for the Specially-Abled
“I Am Different; Not Less”

“Uniquely Me” is the flagship initiative of the Centre for Empowerment & Enrichment (CEFEE), focused on celebrating and empowering children with special needs through inclusive, large-scale, high-impact events. With the motto “I Am Different; Not Less”, this project breaks social barriers and gives children with disabilities the platform, confidence, and recognition they deserve.

It is also a first-of-its-kind in India—a full-fledged Children's Day celebration exclusively for the specially-abled, started in Kerala and now gathering national attention.

The Vision

  • Break stigma around disability
  • Build confidence in differently-abled children
  • Promote inclusion and participation in society
  • Create a platform where these children are not just accepted—but celebrated

Where We Work

CEFEE currently implements the “Uniquely Me” project across three major districts of Kerala:

  • Ernakulam
  • Thiruvananthapuram
  • Malappuram

In each of these regions, we collaborate with local schools, community organizations, volunteers, and families to identify children and provide them with a transformative experience.

Scale & Reach

The initiatives have demonstrated significant impact and outreach across multiple regions:

  • Over 1,200 children with special needs participate in the most recent event held in Ernakulam.
  • In Trivandrum, more than 750 specially-abled children take part in a combined programme — Uniquely Me and Jyothi.
  • A one-day event in Malappuram bring together over 350 children, featuring the Central Government's flagship initiative, BetiBachao, BetiPadhao, aimed at empowering the girl child.
  • To ensure sustained engagement and long-term impact, monthly and bi-monthly programmes are organized throughout the year.
  • These efforts have indirectly reached thousands of family members, caregivers, and volunteers, amplifying the initiative's positive influence within communities.
