Sunshine Smile

Restoring Health, Hope, and Dignity—One Family at a Time

“Sunshine Smile” is a humanitarian health and nutrition outreach initiative launched by CEFEE during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, with a singular mission: to deliver essential medicines, supplements, and food support to differently-abled individuals and their families who were left isolated and vulnerable due to lockdowns, health crises, and poverty.

What started as a pandemic response has evolved into a powerful support system—offering relief, resilience, and renewed hope to hundreds of families across Kerala.

The Need Behind the Smile

Differently-abled children and adults often require daily medication, nutritional supplements, and ongoing therapies. But during the pandemic, these life-sustaining essentials became inaccessible due to lockdown restrictions, suspended public services, and overwhelmed health systems.

Families already living on the margins were suddenly cut off—without income, transportation, or access to care. CEFEE recognized this crisis and responded urgently, placing persons with disabilities at the centre of relief efforts, where they are so often forgotten.

Looking Ahead

Though born out of the pandemic, Sunshine Smile has evolved into a permanent pillar of CEFEE's health and welfare outreach, now serving families who continue to face medical, nutritional, or financial hardship long after the emergency has passed.

With additional funding, we aim to expand Sunshine Smile into a structured health access program, with regular medical supply drives, nutritional support for children with disabilities, and an emergency response network in every district.
